Aluminate with Anodized
Anodized aluminum offers an excellent material for lighting louver and reflector applications and Lorin Industries offers a basic portfolio of material solutions targeted to meet the architectural lighting requirements.

Our lighting sheet will not discolor, delaminate, chip, flake or peel and will not release toxic fumes like coated materials. Our static free surface does not attract dust and is LEED certifiable.

The Lighting Measurement That Matters… For years now the metals industry has sold anodized and vapor deposition enhanced aluminum in terms of Total Reflectance – the amount of light reflected off of the aluminum surface. A more important consideration, however, in selecting a lighting reflector is how much light it will generate – Lumens – combined with how much light actually illuminates the surface – a Foot Candle.

How much better is a 95TR vapor deposition product than an 86 TR anodized aluminum product?
Lorin recently contracted with ITL Boulder to complete an independent evaluation of our anodized aluminum product against a vapor deposition product for light output and efficiency.

The Results?
The following visually and then numerically compares two identically constructed fixtures: one using our PreMirror 41 anodized aluminum and the other using a competitive vapor deposition material. See much of a difference? We don’t either.

Lighting Product Standards Lorin lighting products are available in a variety of standard anodic film / total reflectance / visual clarity combinations. Please confirm with the Inside Sales / Sales Manager what your finished product requirements are to ensure that you are purchasing the right product for the right end product application.

Lorin recommends thicker anodic films for lighting louver applications. Thin anodic film products are fine for back reflector applications.

Product Enhancements & General Information Surface Protection
We recommend that surface protection be applied for all specular / high reflective finish products and any product with a thin anodic film to reduce surface scratching during the manufacturing process.

Material Inspection
Lorin products are not inspected for iridescence. Iridescence levels can be reduced with slight increases in the anodic film specified.

Visual Standards & Limitations
Due to deviations which are inherent to the raw aluminum surface, anodized aluminum products may display a range of color shades which do not indicate a product defect. Please confirm with your Inside Sales / Sales Manager if your order is for standard inventory stock or a specific product that requires consistency throughout. Aluminum finishes are directional by nature and may show a color shift or shift in visual appearance when viewed at different angles. Please communicate running direction at time of assembly or finished product manufacturing.

Glossary & Key Terms Lumen – Measurement of light output. One lumen equals the amount of light generated by a standard candle.

Foot-Candle – Measurement of how much light illuminates a surface. A foot-candle (fc) equals 1 lumen of uniform luminance over the area of 1 square foot. Metric Equivalent = lux. 1 lux = 1 lumen per square meter.
