AAC ANODIZING CERTIFICATION
Know what’s behind your anodized finish
When you specify anodized aluminum, you need confidence in more than its appearance. The AAC Certification Program gives you an independent basis for evaluating finish performance. Talk with Lorin about the requirements behind your next project.
A CLEAR BENCHMARK FOR ANODIZING PERFORMANCE
The Aluminum Anodizers Council (AAC) Certification Program evaluates whether anodizing facilities meet applicable requirements in IAPMO 428-2026, Performance Requirements for Anodized Aluminum Finishes and Products.
IAPMO’s Systems Certification Body (SCB) administers the program. Certification involves an independent audit, technical review and a separate certification decision. For buyers, it provides a common technical basis for evaluating suppliers and discussing finish requirements.

more clarity when the finish matters

Independent Evaluation
Go beyond a supplier’s own claims. Understand how outside assessment supports a more informed purchasing decision.

Clear Expectations
Use defined test methods and acceptance criteria to guide conversations about the finish your application needs.

Continued Oversight
Annual audits support continued certification and accountability within the program.
THE DETAILS BEHIND PERFORMANCE
The program evaluates applicable characteristics of anodized aluminum finishes and products, including:
| Finish characteristics | Resistance to exposure | Surface performance |
| Oxide thickness | Corrosion resistance | Seal quality |
| Oxide density | UV stability | Abrasion resistance |
| Color | Heat stability | Hardness |
The requirements relevant to your project should be considered alongside the facility’s certified scope.
