Lorin Anodized Aluminum Provides Depth and Sophistication to Leading Cancer Care Center
Muskegon, MI- Lorin Industries, Inc., the global industry leader in the innovation and production of coil anodized aluminum, announces that City of Hope selected Lorin Light Bronze anodized aluminum for their 352,000 square feet Hope Plaza outpatient center in Duarte, CA. The project’s architects, CO Architects, chose Lorin anodized aluminum to add depth and sophistication to the building, which will serve as a beacon of hope for patients seeking treatment at the leading center for cancer care. The panels for the project were produced by Morin using Lorin’s Light Bronze Architectural Class II anodized aluminum.
The new Hope Plaza outpatient center serves as a compassionate, patient-centric facility that is the focal point of the northeast City of Hope Duarte campus. The building will sit like a “boulder in a stream” at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, alluding to the region’s alluvial plains and gravel quarries. The building’s flexible, multidisciplinary model delivers the highest standards of cancer care, organized to meet patient needs with minimized travel distances and proximate services.
Hope Plaza is situated in an environment that is almost always sunny and the architects wanted to reflect this with anodized aluminum, rather than a matte paint finish. “The sun will highlight the brilliance of Lorin’s Light Bronze anodized aluminum, while variations in cloud movement and the location of viewers will bring out the dynamic qualities of the material,” said Ash Gharib, Architect at CO Architects. “Lorin’s natural beauty blended in with the facility’s surrounding environment and also enhanced the building’s exterior, especially as viewers drive southward away from the mountain.”
